WEST AFRICAN ECONOMIC AND MONETARY UNION (WAEMU) REGULATIONS
RELATING TO FOREIGN TRADE
 

The 1994 WAEMU Treaty defines the regulatory and institutional framework for trade in its member countries (see Article 4, Articles 7. to 87).

In addition to the 200. customs tariff, different regulations and acts governing trade within the WAEMU are :

 

 Regarding regulations

-          Regulation n ° 05/2008/CM/UEMOA (and its annex) amending the annex to Regulation n ° 08/2007/CM/2007 of April 06, 2007, adopting the tariff and statistical nomenclature of the common exterior tariff (TEC) of UEMOA based on the 2007 version of the harmonized commodity description and coding system

-          Regulation No. 08/2007 / CM / UEMOA adopting the tariff and statistical nomenclature of the WAEMU CET, based on the version of the Harmonized System Commodity Description and Coding System

-          Regulation n ° 02/97/CM/WAEMU on the adoption of the WAEMU common external tariff

 

 In terms of acts and decisions

-          Instruction No. 01/2007 / CM / WAEMU amending Instruction No. 06/200. / CM / UEMOA on harmonization of taxation of petroleum products within the WAEMU

-          Recommendation No. 04/2004/CM/WAEMU  relative to the negotiations of trade agreements and investment between WAEMU and third countries

-          Instruction N ° 03/2002/CM/WAEMU on the notification of regulation on the customs value of goods at the World Trade Organization (WTO)

-          Additional protocol No. III establishing rules of origin of products of the WAEMU (December 2001)

-          Decision No. 01/99 / COM / WAEMU relative to the to the approval of industrial products to benefit the Community Preferential Tax (TPC) equivalent to a 80% reduction of import duties applicable to products of this kind imported from third countries, except where necessary, specific internal or ad valorem taxes levied on products of this kind, whether they are locally produced or imported

-          Additional act n ° 04/98 whose purpose is to institute for industrial products, a preferential community tax equivalent to a reduction of 60% of the import duties applicable to the products imported from third countries

-          Additional act n ° 04/1996 establishing a transitional preferential tariff arrangement for exchanges within the WAEMU and its method of financing.
